Welcome to Central Victorian Cardiology

Electrocardiogram (ECG)

ECGs are requested as a routine test prior to surgery or when you report symptoms of

  • Chest pains
  • Blackouts
  • Palpitations
  • High blood pressure

An ECG measures and records the electrical activity in the heart. You will be asked to undress to the waist. The Cardiac technologist will attach little stickers called electrodes to your chest, arms and legs. The leads from the ECG machine are attached to these electrodes. You will be asked to lie very still whilst the ECG is being recorded.

The ECG appointment takes about 10 minutes.
